Abstracts should be submitted by April 30, 2018, although late abstracts will also be considered, with acceptance notifications by May 14 (you should receive an acknowledgement of your submission within 48 hours; if you do not, please contact Kathleen Kraemer (kathleen.kraemer [at] bc.edu)). Slides for accepted presentations will be due by June 4 (powerpoint or pdf).
Talks are solicited on topics dealing with atmospheric and radiative transfer across the electromagnetic spectrum, especially as they pertain to modeling in remote sensing for Earth and planetary atmospheres and surfaces (land and water). Topics can include physical theory, measurements, mathematical methods, data analysis, and numerical and computer modeling. Sample topics include, but are not limited to:
- Atmospheric transmission models for single and multiple scattering including surface effects for land and water
- Radiative transfer models including polarized and scalar scattering in the atmosphere and at the lower surfaces
- Measurements, theory, and models in remote sensing for retrieval of atmospheric and surface properties
- 3-D scene simulations including applications of High Performance/High End Computing in radiative transfer
- Atmospheric transmission and radiative transfer in cloudy atmospheres
- Atmospheric aerosols and atmospheric boundary layer effects
- Surface reflectance functions and scattering models
- Turbulent atmospheric effects on light propagation
- Atmospheric transmission and radiative transfer models in weather forecasting and climate prediction
- Molecular absorption and scattering in the Earth’s or planetary atmospheres.
Abstracts should include a title, authors, author affiliations, an email address for the presenting author, and keywords, 1 page maximum. Acceptable file types are: pdf (.pdf), ascii (.txt), and word (.doc or .docx); please include the presenting author’s name as part of the filename.
